Functional Training

A comprehensive workout focused on strength, fitness, stability, and mobility through natural movement patterns; suitable for both beginners and advanced athletes, with tempo and load adjusted to the individual.

What is functional training?

Functional training is a well-designed exercise system for developing strength, flexibility, fitness, and overall health. Unlike isolated machine-based workouts, it works with the body as a whole, across all planes of movement, and also focuses on the deep stabilizing system. As a result, it helps improve posture, coordination, and mobility while also correcting muscle imbalances caused, for example, by sedentary work or one-sided strain.

Its biggest advantage is that it helps you become stronger and more mobile not just in sports, but in everyday life too. The goal is to prepare your body to handle daily activities without pain, unnecessary fatigue, and with a lower risk of injury. And as a nice bonus, you can also expect a better physique, muscle gain, weight loss, and improved overall fitness.

Who is this class for?

Functional training is suitable for complete beginners as well as advanced athletes, regardless of age. It doesn't matter whether you're coming back to exercise after a longer break, want to improve your fitness, get stronger, lose weight, or simply do something good for your body.

One big advantage is that you can join the training at any time during the year. We adapt the program individually to each person, so you don't have to worry about not being able to keep up. You always train according to your current abilities and under the supervision of a coach.

New to ARENA? Start right with ARENA BASICS

If you're just getting started with us, you'll first need to complete the ARENA BASICS introductory course. It focuses on proper movement fundamentals that you'll use in every functional training session.

In the course, we focus mainly on:

  • mobility – proper warm-up and preparing the body for movement
  • basic exercise techniques
  • practicing movement patterns that are key to functional training

Among other things, you'll learn the basics of exercises such as the squat, deadlift, and more.

This will help you build proper technique, feel more confident in training, and create a solid foundation for further progress. If you haven't exercised in a while or you're just starting out with functional training, ARENA BASICS is the ideal first step for you.

We recommend bringing a towel and comfortable workout clothes. We train barefoot.

How the lesson flows

Warm-up

To improve mobility, we use Primal Move techniques (Ground Force Method), resets, Original Strength, FMS, popular physiotherapy exercises, and much more.

Technical Part

You'll learn new exercises, drill the ones you already know, or repeat parts of more demanding movements that require more advanced technique.

Strength Part

Everyone trains according to their own program based on their strength, experience, and fitness level. We start with kettlebells, rings, TRX, stall bars, pull-up bars, and later move on to the barbell.

Conditioning Part

At the end, you'll really work up a sweat: workout, circuit training, tabata, agility training. We finish with release, stretching, and foam rolling.
