Box conditioning

Box conditioning is a boxing-based class focused on fundamentals with minimal contact, suitable for beginners and advanced participants who want to improve fitness, coordination, reflexes, and overall physical readiness.

What is fitness boxing?

Boxing is a combat sport. A match takes place in a ring, entirely standing up, and the fighters wear boxing gloves, specialized footwear, shorts, and a vest. Even if you are not a dedicated boxing fan, you have probably heard names such as Muhammad Ali, the Klitschko brothers, or Floyd Mayweather.

The aim of boxing is to land as many accurate punches on your opponent as possible, in other words to outscore them. For the purposes of this class, however, we keep physical contact to a minimum and focus primarily on conditioning. Boxing is an exceptionally demanding sport, and boxers undoubtedly rank among the best-conditioned athletes in the world.

Who the class is for

This class is suitable both for recreational enthusiasts who want to learn the basics of boxing, improve their fitness, or lose a few pounds, and for more experienced athletes who want to work on their conditioning.

What to expect in class

  • warm-up with a jump rope
  • athletic movement drills
  • preparatory exercises for reflexes and coordination
  • partner drills
  • conditioning segment
  • closing bodyweight strength work

Practical information

  • footwear – ideally boxing or wrestling shoes; beginners may train barefoot at first, but for regular training, proper footwear is a better choice because it provides better foot support, helps prevent injuries, and allows quicker movement; other types of shoes could also damage the floor
  • hand wraps – recommended length: 5 m
