Pilates is a low-impact exercise method focused on core strength, breathing, and movement control, suitable for beginners and advanced participants looking to improve stability, mobility, and posture.
Pilates is an exercise method originating in Germany that helps reduce the effects of excessive sitting and poor posture. It supports relief from back pain and stiffness while developing flexibility and proper breathing. The exercises alternately focus on mobility, stability, and strength.
The main goal is to activate and strengthen the deep stabilizing system, especially the abdominal muscles, pelvic floor, and back, while also improving overall body control. Classes emphasize proper breathing, movement coordination, and engagement of individual muscle groups.
The foundation of the practice is smooth, technically correct execution of the exercises, which activates the deep muscles. Everything starts from the body’s center of strength, or core, and gradually teaches you how to connect it with the limbs. This is also why Pilates is often recommended by physiotherapists and rehabilitation professionals.
Through concentration, you also learn greater patience with yourself and can gradually notice the results in everyday life. Proper breathing technique also helps develop lung capacity. Pilates is suitable for complete beginners as well as experienced athletes, because each exercise can be modified and adjusted to different difficulty levels. Thanks to being gentle on the joints, it is also suitable for seniors. You can join the guided classes at any time during the year.
You do not need to bring anything special to class. We only recommend a towel and comfortable clothing. Classes are done barefoot.
Classes take place at Palackého 11, Prague 1.
