Calisthenics - Basics

Calisthenics - Basics

What is calisthenics?

Calisthenics is bodyweight training. One of its biggest advantages is that you can work out almost anywhere, anytime. All you need is the floor and a pull-up bar. No external weights are necessary, yet the muscles trained through calisthenics become well-defined, gain significant strength, and build endurance.

What is the calisthenics course focused on?

The course focuses on the basic bodyweight exercises:

• pull-up

• push-up

• deep core stabilization system

What will you learn in the course?

Pull-up

• active and passive hang

• scapular pulls

• bottom/top fixed position

• reverse pull-up

• pull-up variations (bar, rings)

Push-up

• push-up prerequisites (incline push-up, pike)

• top/bottom position

• narrow/wide push-up + variations

• more advanced combinations (pike press, lizard walk,...)

Deep core stabilization system

• its meaning and importance

• the gymnastic hollow body and its variations

• active and passive engagement and combinations

• advanced variations (levers)

Who is the calisthenics workshop for?

✔ Complete beginners who don’t know how to do a pull-up/push-up or struggle with proper execution

✔ Anyone who wants to improve at bodyweight training - thanks to different difficulty levels for each exercise, the training can be adapted to each participant’s fitness and strength level

✔ Anyone who needs to work on their deep core stabilization system
